There was a time when the development and corporate sector functioned in a mutually exclusive manner. In fact, even till date, many times, these sectors find each other as adversaries. The changing milieu, however, is encouraging them to come to the same table. The business regulations in India have already created a platform for NGOs to play a part by recommending the implementation of CSR projects through NGOs and development sector agencies.
In this context, it is essential that NGOs understand the CSR landscape, in India. The contours of what can be called a ‘New-age relationship’ needs to shaped and carved carefully. A partnership that is based on factors as diverse as- historical records, thematic priorities, geographic preferences, resource utilization, management information system/s, financial management and the convergence of economic benefits with social returns in the long run- requires deep understanding of both sectors’ vision and values.
The objectives of the training workshop will be to:
Help NGOs build their capacities for CSR partnership with corporates
Help NGOs carry out self-assessments of their funding resources and help them identify their core strengths to create a shared value for sustainability
Create an enabling environment for strategic CSR and social innovation
The workshop is designed and conducted by Ms. Gayatri Subramaniam, Convener & Chief Program Executive National Foundation for Corporate Social Responsibility (NFCSR) IICA.
With an academic and industrial experience of more than 29 years, Gayatri has been associated with Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs since its inception around four years back. Her main area of work is to contribute towards policy advisory service and undertake capacity building and knowledge dissemination initiatives in the Corporate Social Responsibility. She is the convener for NFCSR - a unique platform created for Government, Corporates and NGOs for taking up development and sustainable initiatives at a national level.
She was also involved in the development of National Voluntary Guidelines for Social, Economic and Environmental Responsibilities of business (NVGs) under IICA-GIZ Project and represented all stakeholder consultations pan India to get the feedback and comments from the stakeholders.
